CRUSHING,
this process is for obtaining a seed having a high protein value by
cracking the seeds, separating the hull and the meal, reducing the total
volume down. Separating the hull from the meal by cracking the hulls of the
oil seeds has crucial importance for EFFICIENCY and QUALITY of the OIL. If
the hull do not separated, the oil that is absorbed by the hull could not
been gained at the pressing process. In addition at the extraction process;
by the solvent, the wax, color and scent materials special to hull are
being solved together with the oil materials and this reduced down the
quality of the oil. It shall be prevented to squeeze and damage the seeds
during crushing, only to crack the hulls is important as squeezed meal gone
with the hull as waste. .
FLAKING,
FLAKING ; this process is for converting the meal, of which is
crushed to separate from its hull, to thin plates. As the oil inside the
oil seeds present into small cells, to break those cells by weakening is of
great importance to obtain the oil. Both the leakage area of the oil is
increased and the resistance of the cell for oil leakage is decreased by
flaking. The distance that oil passes while leaving the cell is decreased
and the explosion of the cells during pressing process is getting easier.
The particles shall have wide surface as possible during flaking and this
could be obtained only with a determined moisture ratio, for example 8-10%
for sunflower seed. The oil content remained at the cake could be regulated
by obtaining the desired flake thickness with the adjustment of the
distance between the rolls of the flaker as desired. The importance of the
